Cubes

The processes that I use to create these cubes use uncertainty and chance as underlying principals. In the smaller pieces I start with perfect foam cubes, which are violently broken apart with a sledgehammer or maul. The larger pieces begin the same way but are broken apart with heavy construction equipment. Many of the pieces begun this way are discarded until I select one that I feel would work well as a casting. I purposely gate and spru the pieces in unorthodox ways in order to create unpredictable surface fissures and sink holes that can only be made convincible by being created in the casting process.
